Mellow Dawn

The soft trill of chickadees announced the imminent sunrise. Slowly, she came forward through a landscape sleeping under its thick blanket of snow. Despite her corpulence, we barely heard the snowy crust give way under her muffled steps. Where was she going? Does she dream, like me, of the arrival of tender leaves?
